Your faith doesn’t have to stay outside the counseling room.
If your Christian faith is an important part of who you are, we want you to know your faith is welcome here. We understand that faith often becomes the lens through which people live, love, make decisions, and make sense of the world. It shapes values, relationships, hope, and even the way we understand suffering and healing.
For some, faith feels steady and deeply rooted. For others, it may feel fragile or uncertain – and that’s okay too. Wherever you find yourself, it is only natural to want an important part of who you are to be welcomed into the counseling process rather than left outside of the counseling room.
Each team member at Soulfully Connected Counseling professes the Christian faith and is committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based Christian counseling. We have a passion for coming alongside our clients so they do not feel they have to hide their faith or biblical values in counseling. Rather than setting your faith aside, we thoughtfully weave it into counseling in the ways that are meaningful to you.
At Soulfully Connected Counseling, we believe people are whole. Emotional, psychological, relational, physical, and spiritual health all influence one another. When faith is an important part of a person's life, we believe it deserves the same thoughtful care and attention as every other aspect of their well-being.
If you’ve never experienced Christian counseling before, you may wonder what to expect. We want to assure you that you won’t be judged or “preached” to. Our Christian counselors first and foremost see themselves as fellow human beings and fellow children of God, walking alongside you with humility, compassion, and grace. Your counselor will follow your lead, respecting your comfort level and never pressuring you to discuss your faith more than you desire.
What is Christian Counseling?
Christian counseling is an approach that thoughtfully integrates a biblical worldview with evidence-based clinical care. Rather than separating faith from the counseling process, our Christian counselors allow the tenets of the Christian faith, along with biblical beliefs and values, to guide their approach to counseling. Think of it as a pair of glasses they wear in the therapy room. That lens influences how they view you, your relationships, the world around you, and the process of change and healing.
For us, faith is not an “add-on” to counseling. It influences why we counsel the way we do, shaping the compassion we extend, the hope we hold, and the way we understand people, relationships, suffering, and healing through the character of God. At the same time, our work remains grounded in evidence-based clinical practice, honoring both spiritual and emotional well-being throughout the counseling process.
Faith at Your Pace
The most important thing that the clinical team at Soulfully Connected Counseling wants you to know is that Christian counseling follows your lead. From your very first conversation with us, we want to understand whether and how you would like your faith to be included in counseling. This helps us to know what your desire is and keeps you in the driver’s seat.
Our hope is to understand how important your faith is to you. Is it something that influences every part of your life and therefore you want it to be included in counseling? We would be honored to pray with you and may even share scripture with you that fits the focus of therapy.
Many people assume Christian counseling is only for those who feel spiritually "strong." We don't believe that at all. Some clients come to counseling because their faith feels steady and is an important source of comfort. Others come feeling hurt by the church, wrestling with doubt, angry with God, or unsure what they believe anymore. All of those experiences are welcome here.
If your Christian faith is something that you consider to be very private, perhaps you would find comfort in simply knowing that your counselor holds the same Christian worldview that you do.
We want to respect and honor what would help you the most with experiencing healing and change. Our role is not for counseling sessions to turn into a Bible study. Rather, it is simply to travel along the road of faith with you, wherever you may find yourself on (or even off of) the path.
Our Approach
As a practice whose clinical team is trained, highly skilled, and also holds to the Christian faith, we are mindful of and committed to using evidence-based counseling approaches that also reflect our biblical understanding of people, relationships, and healing. Our licensed counselors are grounded in attachment theory and bonding science, using these as the clinical foundation for our work.
Attachment teaches that we are born into this world looking for someone who is also looking for us. We see this from the very beginning of life as a baby naturally turns toward a caregiver for safety, comfort, and connection. But it does not stop there. Our need for emotional connection is hardwired into us and remains with us throughout our lives. Without it, we do not truly thrive.
We believe this reflects the relational nature of God. Throughout Scripture we see a God who desires relationship with His people and invites us to know Him. As people created in His image, we also long to know and be known, to love and be loved.
This understanding shapes the way we practice counseling. We believe we are “created for connection.” Because of this belief, our counselors pay attention not only to symptoms and behaviors, but also to the emotions, needs, relationships, and patterns beneath them.
Wherever You Find Yourself
We understand that faith can look different from one season of life to the next. Our hope is that counseling becomes a place where every part of who you are is welcomed with compassion and care. At Soulfully Connected Counseling, we believe healing happens when people no longer feel they have to hide parts of themselves—and that includes their faith. Whether you're looking for Christian counseling in Bryan-College Station or online throughout Texas, it would be an honor to walk alongside you as together we pursue healing, hope, and deeper connection.
